“I want to be a triathlete!”
It’s amazing that Vasco Vilaça, World Triathlon Vice-Champion, said this when he was just six years old. Fast-forward to today, and his determination to be a triathlete–expressed at such tender age—has materialized.
Vilaca has emerged as one of the best triathletes in the world. Born in Portugal, he moved to Sweden with his family in 2013. When he was 15, he decided to move by himself to Motala, a city in Östergötland, Sweden to study and train. Vasco’s journey to becoming the best triathlete is paved with his hard work and discipline, and his keen desire to be the best.
Only 21 years old, he has become a triathlon sensation. His big breakthrough was becoming the World Triathlon Vice-Champion at the age of 20. To date, Vasco has achieved career milestones, including:
- 2020 Karlovy Vary World Cup Silver
- 2017 Junior World Vice-Champion
- 2017 Junior European Champion
- 2016 Youth European Champion
Vasco has become one of the best athletes in his sport thanks to his discipline, speed and agility, passion to go further, determination, and commitment to working hard every day.
